Solid beauty is an old way of doing things, but to most of us, it’s a pretty new experience. And since we’re all getting used to new ways of doing things, it leaves far more room for exploration! We’re always getting fun tips from our fans and discovering new ways of using our bars here at Ethique HQ, so we thought we’d jot some of the wackier ideas here! Saving Face Serum, Stacey’s way “It’s designed for your face, but Saving Face Serum can also be used (sparingly) to tame flyaways and define curl – I use this religiously every day and love that I don’t have to buy hair styling serums anymore. “It’s also awesome as a lip balm. While I wait (not so) patiently for an Ethique lip product I love a teeny swipe of Saving Face Serum as a lip balm at night.” - Stacey Shayna’s solid conditioner hacks “Conditioner bars are amazing – not only are they equivalent to five bottles of liquid conditioner (so they last an incredibly long time – I’ve had mine for a year now!), they’re also very versatile. I use mine as a conditioning treatment for some extra hydration during the winter months. I leave it in for 20-30 minutes before rinsing. It’s also great for in-shower moisture for your body – just rub it on areas needing some extra moisture (I’m looking at you, elbows and knees). It’s especially great for those with sensitive skin. “It’s so good as a shaving bar too – rub on and the razor glides so smoothly. It’ll leave your skin hydrated. “It might be obvious, but may be worth noting that if you use it for these things, your bar won’t last quite as long.” - Shayna How to use your tiny bits of bar, by Alysha “When you’re down to those last few pieces of shampoo and conditioner bar don’t chuck them out! Get out your new bar and slap them on there. Over time the old sliver will melt into the new bar.” – Alysha Janette’s tips for a sensitive skin all-in-one “Bliss is a SUPER bar – it’s so much more than just a face cleanser or makeup remover. I use this as a bodywash and shampoo too, so it’s the best travel buddy! This won’t last as long if used it for all over and it won’t lather up like a shampoo. But, if you have delicate skin, like me, it’s fantastic.” - Janette Wet bar loving – tips from Jen. “If my bar’s feeling a little damp or soft, I use it on dry hair, then hop into the shower to lather up. This is perfect if you live in a very warm or humid climate, or if you struggle with keeping your bars dry! “For some intensive wet-bar rehab, I pop them in my hot water cupboard to dry out properly. Here are some other helpful tips here for saving a wet bar.” - Jen Kim says, “Clean all the things with Flash!” “The Flash laundry bar has to be one of my favourites – for me, it multiplies as a handwashing soap, stain remover (sooo good for cleaning white shoes!), a dish detergent and an all-purpose household cleaner. Just dilute a bit of product in water and use a cloth – make sure to rinse your dishes. This makes it the perfect wash bar if you’re travelling, or like to venture outdoors – it’s 100% biodegradable and safe for our waterways.” - Kim Alysha’s Superstar softener hack “If the Superstar solid moisturiser is a bit hard – usually during cold weather – I blast it with the hairdryer for five seconds. The heat softens up the outer layer into a lotion so it’s easy to smear on and rub in.” – Alysha Reuse your butter block and deodorant wrappers – a hack from Jen “Use your butter block or deodorant wrapper when you’re applying, so you don’t get your hands all sticky. Once the paper wears out, switch to a bit of cloth or other reusable wrap.” – Jen We’d love to hear your wacky tips – let us know here on Insta!
