Who doesn’t love a bit of sunshine, fresh air and soaking up the rays? Our moisturising bars, for one, They aren’t as tough against the heat as, say, our shampoo and conditioner bars. Our cleansing bars love a bit of heat, especially when it’s dry heat (like your hot water cupboard), but our balms and moisture bars… not so much. These bars are jam-packed with delicious oils and butters and have been designed to melt with the warmth of your skin. But the rising temps of summer can throw a warm spanner in the works. Luckily, there are some easy ways to care for the more heat-sensitive bars in your bathroom. The bars to watch out for in the heat are: SuperStar Saving Face Serum The Perfector Butter Blocks Bath Mylk Love Baby Bar Baby Bott Balm The most sensitive of all SuperStar! - It’s rich, creamy, amazing at removing your make-up and also prone to melting. Even in the cooler months, it’s best to keep it away from direct sun, but over summer, you might like to take extra steps like popping it in a cool, dark cupboard to keep it in top form. Use it, drain it, dry it Shampoos and conditioner bars love the heat, but the humidity, not so much. If you find them getting wet and mushy, seek out dry, airy spots like a hot water cupboard, then keep them covered once they’re back in the bathroom. This is my home set up when my bars are struggling: to the left, they’re stored in a well-draining container, with good airflow. Since my bathroom doesn’t face the sun, they don’t get too hot and mushy. To the right, I’ve got them in the hot water cupboard for some R&R. Shut up shop It’s a great idea to store your bars in a container – jar, tin or box. That way, if it does melt a bit you can still use it, almost like your own home-made jar of cream. Any old jar will do! Pro tip: If you’re travelling, this is the best way to store your moisturisers and bars, too! Cool down When it’s warm, make ‘em cool. You might find your bars do ok in a bottom drawer in your bathroom – just keep an eye on them when the sun’s blazing! If it’s so hot that even your bathroom is feeling overcooked, you might need to step into the big leagues: your fridge! Just make sure you label your bar, so you don’t find your partner frying onions in it... Now your bars have chilled out, it’s your turn - hit that beach, pool or backyard sprinkler. (I’m not picky!) Just don’t forget your hat!
