All Ethique products use ethically sourced, naturally-derived and sustainable ingredients.
Vegan and sustainable ingredients
Ethique goes to great lengths to ensure every single ingredient we use is:
- Healthy and safe to use
- Cruelty-free
- Sustainably produced and biodegradable
‘Sustainably produced’ means our ingredients don’t contribute to deforestation, habitat loss, displacement of native peoples or animals.
Why we are vegan
Think climate change and pollution, and you probably think of cars and petrol. Transport is definitely contributing to the problem, but is actually responsible for only 14% of global carbon emissions. Farming animals, on the other hand, produces up to 24% of global carbon emissions (in NZ it’s around 40%!) And deforestation to make room for more grazing means we’re losing one to two acres of rainforest every minute.
In a word, it’s unsustainable.
This, and animal welfare of course, is why we don’t use animal-derived ingredients in any of our products. They are and always will be vegan.

As well as being sustainable, all our other ingredients must be renewable, non-petroleum sourced, vegan and naturally derived with as minimal as possible chemical processing.
